The XTreme Digital for Flip is no exception. The lens mounts magnetically to the Flip camera. Enclosed are two �" circular rings that have adhesive on one side and a magnet on the other (you only need one). After applying the adhesive side permanently to your Flip (not noticeable), the lens snaps tightly with the magnet. The view is .45 percent more so you get a much wider shot of what you are filming, which is great for outdoor videos. However, the magnet is held on not very strong, so a quick snap of the wrist and your lens will drop off. If you are interested in wide angle viewing, this works fine and is easily carried around, but it is not permanent, nor is it for all types of Flip video filming. It's just a nice extra accessory. I have to say, that it does fit my Ultra HDFlip 8GB, so check other Flip cameras for compatibility. I have yet to find a macro lens for the Flip, which would be nice for flowers, insects... I love mine and it gives me more options with iMovie's crop feature because now I have more area to work with. Be sure to zoom in a bit so you don't get a vignette effect though. The only problem is that the magnetic ring/back of lens gets scratches from putting them on and off so often. Also, the adhesive is a little iffy, but it can be fixed with superglue. For the overall function of this product, it works just as it should! |
